Screening of flocculation points

page back

The zeta-potential of the dispersion is a measure of the effective surface charge and the interaction of the disperse solid particles with one another. The characterization of the absolute surface charge, negative or positive in the unit [mV], is a decisive parameter for the final application of the product. Different flocculation points (IEP) of dispersed solid particles can be reliably and reproducibly determined even in very high technical concentrations.
Measurement results in the figure below show that differently post-treated TiO2 grades can be significantly differentiated from one another regarding their flocculation points (IEP) and absolute surface charge [mV] at technical process concetrations of 30 wt%
